- - - - [mailto:?body=https://blog.argondistributors.co.nz/off-the-grid-water-supply-five-reasons-for-installing-a-solar-pump-system](mailto:?body=https://blog.argondistributors.co.nz/off-the-grid-water-supply-five-reasons-for-installing-a-solar-pump-system) ![](https://blog.argondistributors.co.nz/hubfs/20220112_142244-1.jpg) If you’re looking for a pump system and pump accessories that can help lower your bills or pump water in rural and isolated areas, then a solar pump system is the perfect solution!  There are thousands of reasons to install a solar water pump. If you have never thought about installing a solar power system before, browse through the list and see if any of the applications would be helpful for your situation.   ## 1. No Limits to Pumping Location Water pumping in remote areas is a common issue for a lot of landowners, farmers, and lifestylers. For many years wind power and windmills have been used in these environments to power these pump systems, although they offer a more complicated and expensive operation. The breakthrough in solar water pumping is that there is no need for an external power source. Instead, the sun and the solar panels provide all of the electricity needed to pump water from meters underground and hundreds of meters overground to your storage tanks.   ![Artboard 3-2-1-1](https://blog.argondistributors.co.nz/hs-fs/hubfs/Artboard%203-2-1-1.png?width=1110&name=Artboard%203-2-1-1.png)   ## 2. Enhanced Power and Efficiency Modern solar pumps have a higher power capacity than ever before, with lower maintenance needs. These systems are usually made from stainless steel to ensure the proper sanitation and long life of your pump housing and mechanisms, which creates an ideal environment for its added power whilst offering a hygienic system that won’t contaminate nearby water sources.   ## 3. No Ongoing Operating Costs Besides an initial system cost, a solar pump system will cost you no further operating expenses. Since your system will run entirely on solar energy, a constant source, it means you’ll face no extra fees from a lack of energy. These systems are also easy and affordable to maintain, requiring nothing more than a quick wash every 6-12 months.   ## 4. Low Cost and Readily Available Pump Systems Previously solar-powered systems have had a high price tag attached, but with these systems being used in more mainstream methods, it means more advanced technology with a lower price tag that results in an easily accessible system. A basic but complete solar well pump system will pump water from a water source, either a bore or river at a 20-60 liters per minute flow rate. This basic system will replace most windmills, matching both depth and flow rate.   ![raphael-cruz-IwY-27ceRCA-unsplash](https://blog.argondistributors.co.nz/hs-fs/hubfs/raphael-cruz-IwY-27ceRCA-unsplash.jpg?width=1110&name=raphael-cruz-IwY-27ceRCA-unsplash.jpg)   ## 5. Simplified Installation Solar-powered pumps are a straightforward system to install. With all electrical joints made with waterproof connections, it means no soldering is required, and it can be installed in a single weekend or sooner!   ![DDS Solar Install #2-1](https://blog.argondistributors.co.nz/hs-fs/hubfs/DDS%20Solar%20Install%20%232-1.jpg?width=1110&name=DDS%20Solar%20Install%20%232-1.jpg)   ### Contact Argon for Efficient Pumping Systems If you want to learn more about our range of fans, water pumps and electric motors contact [our friendly team at Argon](https://argondistributors.co.nz/contact/) to find the best solution for your business.
